Classic cars have a way of bringing generations together. Some visitors remember riding in similar vehicles when they were young, while others appreciate the craftsmanship, distinctive designs, and care that go into keeping an older car or truck on the road. On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Sabine County Youth Foundation presents its Classic Car Show at the VFW parking lot in Hemphill.
For guests staying at Mid Lake Campground, the show is an opportunity to enjoy a local community event while spending a fall weekend near Toledo Bend.
A Celebration of Classic Cars and Trucks
The car show welcomes vehicles across several eras, with award categories that recognize the variety of automotive history.
Categories include pre-1949 vehicles, 1949–1974 vehicles, 1975–present vehicles, vintage trucks, and Best of Show. That range gives the event a broad appeal, from early automotive designs and mid-century classics to newer vehicles and distinctive pickups.
Whether you’re an experienced car enthusiast or simply enjoy admiring well-maintained vehicles, the show offers a reason to spend time exploring Hemphill.
Enter Your Vehicle in the Show
Owners interested in participating can enter a vehicle for $25 in advance or $30 on the day of the event.
The flyer provides a mailing contact for entries through Edith McCauley, along with a telephone number for additional information. Anyone planning to display a vehicle should confirm registration procedures, arrival times, and judging details before the event.
Supporting Sabine County Youth
The Classic Car Show is presented by the Sabine County Youth Foundation, connecting a popular community activity with a local youth organization.
Events like this provide opportunities for residents and visitors to gather around shared interests while helping bring attention to community programs. They also give travelers a chance to experience the local culture beyond Toledo Bend’s shoreline.
Make a Day of It in Hemphill
If you’re staying at Mid Lake Campground during the October 17 weekend, consider spending part of Saturday at the car show. Walk among the vehicles, enjoy the atmosphere, and explore Hemphill before returning to the lake.
It’s an especially appealing outing for families with an interest in cars, trucks, and automotive history.
