Creativity, imagination, and hands-on learning come together in the 2026–2027 District 5 4-H LEGO Challenge, an activity inviting enrolled District 5 4-H members and Clover Kids to create original builds and share their work.
Running from October 1, 2026, through February 1, 2027, the challenge gives young builders time to plan, experiment, and turn their ideas into something unique. It’s a wonderful example of how local youth programs encourage creativity and problem-solving beyond the traditional classroom.
A Creative Challenge for Young Builders
LEGO building offers more than entertainment. It encourages participants to think about structure, design, storytelling, and how individual pieces can work together to create something larger.
The District 5 4-H LEGO Challenge builds on those skills by asking participants to create an original design within one of the competition’s listed categories.
Those categories include Machinery, Fantasy/Fairytale, Entertainment, Nature and Wildlife, and Buildings.
Participants can choose a theme that interests them and develop their own creation, whether they’re inspired by the natural world, imaginative stories, or the challenge of building something functional-looking.
How the Competition Works
The challenge requires participants to create and build an original LEGO creation using one of the approved categories. The flyer specifically states that LEGO kits and 4-H robotics are not allowed.
Entries are judged on creativity and originality, and ribbons are awarded within age divisions using a point-based system.
Participants must upload photographs of their completed LEGO creations through Texas 4-H by February 1, 2027. Results are scheduled to be announced during D5 Come Alive on May 1, 2027.
Who Can Participate?
The competition is open to enrolled District 5 4-H members and Clover Kids.
The listed entry fee is $15, while Clover Kids may participate for free. Families should review the complete District 5 contest rules before beginning their projects to ensure their entries meet all requirements.
Although the challenge is not a public festival or attraction, it offers local families an opportunity to participate in a creative educational program over several months.
Encouraging Creativity in East Texas
Youth programs like 4-H are an important part of the communities surrounding Toledo Bend. They give children opportunities to explore interests, learn new skills, and develop confidence through hands-on experiences.
For families in Sabine County and across District 5, the LEGO Challenge provides a project that can grow over time. A simple idea in October can become a completed creation by February, with plenty of opportunities for learning along the way.
